Socorro Big Animal Diving
If you're into big animal encounters this is the trip for you. Socorro is best known for the wonderful encounters with giant pacific manta rays, where the mantas are incredibly curious and friendly, coming right up to divers. This isn't all you will see during a liveaboard yacht trip to Socorro, there are up to ten species of sharks including Whale Sharks, schooling Hammerheads,Silkies, Oceanic Whitetips, Silvertips, Galapagos Sharks, and Tiger Sharks. The Dolphins of Socorro are just as curious as the Mantas and will swim right up to divers. This trip is also during the annual Humpback Whale migration, giving us a good chance for encounters.
Dive Site Highlights
The Boiler: The surf and swell running across the top of the pinnacle can make the water look like it's boiling. The Boiler is a cleaning station for the giant Pacific mantas that usually show up minutes after you enter the water. As they approach, they look you right in the eye.
The Canyon: A great site to see mantas, dolphins, Galapagos sharks, silky sharks, and schools of hammerheads off the point.
Roca Partida: The pinnacle is in the middle of nowhere and is a magnet to pelagics. Known for tons of sharks, mantas, huge schools of fish, and whale sharks. Oceanic white tips and hammerheads are often seen here as well.
Socorro Island:Mantas are present at all the dive sites around Socorro Island. Playful dolphins visit divers as well.
Accommodations
A comfortable stateroom with two single beds, private bathroom and shower, individual climate control, monitor with media player USB/110V outlet, bathrobes, fresh towels and hairdryer.
The yacht has a beautiful spacious salon that is air-conditioned and well equipped with an LCD TV, and satellite telephone. The Socorro Aggressor also has a large sun deck with shading, chaise lounges and deck chairs, and bar.
